The plight of the disabled has not been helped by the Paralympics 2012, where peoples preception of the disabled is now one that everyone disabled is under 35 years of age and should be able to run the 400 metres, swim multiple lengths of a swimming pool, push themselves around a race track in a wheelchair. This isn't a representation of most disabled peoples normal lives, it gives a false impression. At the moment abled bodied people are judging the book by its cover, where everyone in young and has an ability to compete. Yet inside the book, the pages tell a different story of everyday disabled people lives.
